ABOUT THE SONG

ABOUT THE SONG

Surely As The Morning is built on the steady promise of Psalm 23—that God’s love is unchanging, His care unfailing, and His presence constant. Backed by a timeless groove, this song carries the rhythm of life’s struggles, matched by the rhythm of God’s unshakeable goodness.

We wrote this song for seasons of feeling lost and alone, when grief runs deep and fear surrounds. It’s a song of defiant hope—a reminder that no matter how deep the valley or how long the night, God’s goodness doesn’t flicker out. He’s the Shepherd who stays, even when everything else feels shaky. Just as surely as the day breaks over the horizon, God’s love remains.

Our hope is that Surely As The Morning will meet you in those hard places, offering a melody that reassures your soul. Just as the morning greets the sun, God’s love greets you with the promise that his light will pierce even the darkest days.

Lyrics

VERSE 1

What a joy to live in the fold of God

My shepherd good, you lead me on

Everywhere I go you will hold my life

From pastures green to rivers dry

CHORUS

Even in the valley of the shadow of death

Even in the barren wilderness

Never will you leave, wherever I run

Surely as the morning greets the sun

Surely as the morning greets the sun

VERSE 2

Will there be a day when your goodness fades?

In waves of grief, or fires of pain?

Even at the grave you will bury my fears

My shepherd good, you're drawing near

BRIDGE

Surely I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, forever (x4)

Surely love and mercy will follow me forever, and ever (x2)

CHORUS x2

ENDING

Surely I will dwell in the house of the Lord

(Surely as the morning greets the sun)

Surely love and mercy will follow me forever

(Surely as the morning greets the sun)
